FAQ

Questions, answered.

How is WPM calculated?

Net WPM = correct characters ÷ 5, divided by the time in minutes — the monkeytype formula. Raw WPM counts every keystroke, mistakes included.

Why does a corrected typo still count?

Accuracy measures keystrokes, not the final state. A mistake you take back still happened — otherwise two results wouldn't be comparable.

What is a duel?

The link carries your test's seed. Whoever opens it gets exactly the same words in the same order and types against your number.

Is any data stored?

Only in your browser: history, personal bests and settings live in localStorage. No account, no server, no tracking.
